How much of a Jolt do those shock collars really give?
How much of a Jolt do those shock collars really give? I thought they just made a buzzing sound, but my neighbors dog screams like a banshee when it crosses the property line. Do they really shock alot or is it just over dramatizing the sensation?
Its a jack russel and he has the collar turned up all the way to establish the boundaries and then he`ll turn it down, he just got it yesterday. The screaming concerned me, but they thought it was funny
It depends on the collar and the setting.
I have a toy dog e-collar, and I can hardly feel it, even on the highest setting.
I also have an e-collar for my big dog, and at the setting I use for my insensitive Lab mix (higher than you would have it set for most dogs), it feels like the shock you would get from scuffing your feet on the carpet and then touching a metal doorknob.....not something you would want to repeat, but not horrible, either.
Obviously, if their dog is screaming, they have it set too high for that particular dog. And that is not how you teach a dog where the boundaries are. Suggest they read the directions....apparently they didnt bother.
