How well can purple crowned lorikeets talk and are they good pets? Also are thay a hyperactive bird by nature?
They're not normally owned as pets in Australia. They're common avairy birds & very well known to be excellent avairy birds so I don't see why they wouldn't make good pets too.
I've never heard them talk. Generally some lorikeets can talk, some can't, try one & see if you can get it to talk is all I can suggest.
Generally all lorikeets & rosellas are a pretty good pet to have that love to play & can be quite mischievious.
NO parrot species can have cage cleaning done every week, it's the same for all parrots, clean every day. Same goes for ALL parrot species. Their diet depends on the species but NO parrot species is suposed to just have a seed diet. I also own a parrot that requires fresh 3 meals a days, so this doesn't only apply to lorikeets.
There are also a number of lorikeet owners I know that are first bird owners so you can have one as a first bird provided you do your research.
Oh & they're quite a noisy bird as well as playful & inquisitive.
