my horse gets bad wounds on his wither from rugs, *read fully*
he gets bad rubs from his rugs
and they are all the right size for him
i have sewn wool, sheepskin and faux fur on the parts that rub but it doesnt help.
he is unrugged at the moment but it freezing right now as it is winter.
ive tried bibs but they dont stay in place
the wound is healing but what can i do about the rugs, he needs to be rugged for shows and work. so what are some tips or has anyone delt with this before?
Not sure if your problem is similar to the problem i had with my horse, but my horse's rugs were cutting into her wither, be carefull and watch out for infection in this area as a wither infection is a serious problem.
onto the rugs, for my mare i could never put just a rug on her she had to have combo's. i found that rugs like weatherbeeta that have seems for the neck rug that sit in front of the wither fit her perfectly. Other than that i had special rugs made for her with no seams across the wither.
