Hello! To answer your question about your tv remote I too have found ways to destroy remotes and I would just go to like Circuit City or Best Buys to buy Universial Remotes. They come equipt with a list of different codes to program your specific tv/dvd combo. If you can't find the code forthe two together then program as two seperate devices. And if that don't work they have a function that will allow you to manually program the remote, those instructions are also included. Well I hope that my answers will help you. Good Luck!
