Is aluminum alloy 6063 suitable for building a bicycle trailer?
I like the idea that aluminum is very cheap and very light, but I'm not sure if it would be able to carry the weight I would like. I would like to use the trailer to move up to ~300 pounds. How much weight could a 4' long piece of angle aluminum with 1/8th" thickness and 3/4th" legs support?

McMaster-Carr is a supplier of industrial stuff. Their online catalog will contain info about different types of aluminum and their grades. Like 6063. And it isn't so cheap. Don't forget the dash in between the 2 words if you want to go to their site. It would probably be cheaper for you just to buy one. Aluminum is difficult to weld, and you would weaken it by drilling holes for bolts.
